In this 2 hour hands-on CSG training, participants will learn how to use Google NotebookLM and custom Gems to build a systematic policy-development workflow.
The class will begin with NotebookLM as the knowledge-base engine. Participants will learn how to organize source documents, research, statutes, constitutional materials, agency rules, historical references, and CSG policy principles into a usable policy library. The goal is to create a reliable foundation of knowledge that can be queried, summarized, compared, and applied without losing track of source material.
From there, the class will move into Google Gems as the writing and reasoning engine. Participants will learn how to train a Gem to think through policy problems, draft systematic policy papers, produce legislative analysis, identify self-governance implications, and create consistent written outputs aligned with CSG’s systematic mission and framework.
The final portion of the class will show how to connect NotebookLM and Gems into one repeatable policy system. Participants will learn how to use the NotebookLM knowledge base to inform a trained Gem, allowing them to produce systematic policy papers, legislative briefs, issue summaries, talking points, strategy documents, etc.
By the end of the class, participants will understand how to move from scattered information to an organized policy engine that can help drive principled, informed, and repeatable action in their states.
Participants will leave with a working model for building an AI-supported policy production system: NotebookLM as the knowledge base, Gems as the trained policy-writing assistant, and CSG principles as the governing framework.
